Abstract: Wilson loops are interesting observables in gauge theory. Sypersymmetric localization allows to reduce their computation to a matrix integral hence providing a tool to compute them exactly. This exact result can be compared to holography, thus allow to consider string corrections to the classical minimal surface type solutions. This program was and still is quite succesefully caried out for the Wilson loop in the fundamental representation. WL in other representations allow to probe other interesting regimes, involving quantum corrections to certain probe Dp-brane configuration or non-planar contributions. This requires calculating the WL in the limit when the representation large (number of boxes in its partition is of order N). This turns out to be much more complicated - I will try to explain the issue and some recent progress.
