Abstract:
Flat $k$-parameter families of a toric variety correspond to certain splittings of polyhedra into $k+1$ summands. More general, if the given variety is smooth in codimension two, then this concept allows to construct the versal family for each single multidegree. I will report on a joint paper with Lars Kastner.
