Abstract: I will introduce homogeneous coordinate rings (Cox ring) of algebraic varieties, and mention what it means for them to be finitely generated. Then I explain some explicit methods to work with low rank Cox rings and show how they can be used to study the geometry of smooth or singular Fano varieties. The goal is to explain how certain birational rigidity statements can be obtained by this trick. Language: English |
