Conference Key and GHZ State Generation in Quantum Networks

Abstract: We consider the problem of generating conference keys and GHZ states (Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states) in quantum networks. Network nodes are connected by sources of bipartite entangled states and by GHZ state sources linking multiple nodes simultaneously. The goal is to maximize the generation rate of conference key bits or GHZ states per unit time. Four scenarios are examined: the two-user case, network scenario with tree packing, general classical case, and general quantum case. We discuss solution methods and the challenge of rigorously deriving maximum achievable generation rates.
