Abstract: Interval translation mappings (ITM) were introduced in 1994 by M. Boshernitzan and I. Kornfeld as a natural generalization of interval exchange transformations. In my talk i will outline some known results on their ergodic and combinatorial properties (with the main focus on the simplest class of ITM's - double rotations) and show you many challenging open problems.
