Normal subgroups of Cremona group K. A. Shramov Steklov Mathematical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Following Lamy and Cantat, we show how to derive the existence of non-trivial normal subgroups in the Cremona group $Bir(\mathbb P^2)$ from certain statements of hyperbolic geometry.
