An adaptive finite element method for compressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. A continuous piecewise linear approximation in space and time with component-weighted stabilization of convection conditions is used by the least squares method and residual shock capture. The adaptive algorithm is numerically demonstrated for the value under consideration, which is the drag force of the body. The study was conducted using the Comsol Multiphysics 6.1 engineering software package. The Navier-Stokes equation was used as a model. Based on the numerical data obtained, it is shown that the use of an adaptive mesh dramatically increases the accuracy of the solution.
