Abstract: Within the framework of the triple deck theory, the effect of an elastic surface on the characteristics of a wave packet generated by acoustic disturbances in a boundary layer at transonic free-stream velocities is investigated.

Key words: acoustic disturbances, Tollmien–Schlichting waves, transonic fluid dynamics, surface elasticity.
