Analysis of mechanisms of surface pattern formation during the high-power plasma stream processing

Abstract: The analysis of mechanisms of surface pattern formation during the high-power plasma stream processing is carried out. It is showed that in the case of plasma processing the surface dynamics is determined not only by the surface tension forces and viscosity but also by the forces connected with the plasma stream pressure on the substance. By means of these forces the roughness of the surface increases even during the processing in the precritical mode.

Keywords: non-linear dynamics; radiation processing; mass transfer; Rayleigh–Taylor instability; material modification.
