Abstract: Two-chained DNA model the basic contribution to which dynamic is given by rotation of the bases around sugar-phosphate backbone is presented. Two types of solutions — breathers and kink-antikink pairs — are obtained using generalized Van der Pol method. These solutions describe initial stages of thermal DNA denaturation and open state formation during transcription respectively. The influence of two types of external forces on the model dynamics is also investigated.

Keywords: nonlinear dynamics of DNA, breathers, Van der Pol method.
