Abstract: A viscoplastic medium model and the criterion of roof collapse by maximal accumulated non-elastic strain are proposed to describe distinctions in stages of roof collapse in stope ores at different place advance rates. The applied viscoplastic model is described with the numerical formulation of the problem which is solved by the finite element method. The presented results of calculations testify that the proposed approach is promising and efficient in describing rate sensitivity in phenomena of geo-environment break-down.

Keywords: rocks, mine working, stress-strain state, viscoplastic medium, rate sensitivity, roof collapse.
