Abstract:
A brief review has been given on reacting media mechanics and it is stated that wood is a porous reacting medium. On the basis of the laws of mass conservation, conservation of momentum, conservation of energy, and the equation of state, a general closed system of partial differential equations for describing processes of ignition and burning of wood has been obtained. It is stated that reaction and thermal properties of wood differ much from those of the other natural reacting medium – peat, and a new physical-mathematical model of ignition and burning of wood has been proposed.
