Abstract: The model of a radiation field generated by medical linear accelerator in a tissue-equivalent medium is suggested. This model can be applied to radiation treatment planning. A distinctive feature of the model is representation of a therapeutic beam as a set of pencil beams. Such representation allows to calculate dose distribution for a radiation field of an arbitrary form. The method of calculation and software implementation, which are based on the suggested model, are described. Software presented consists of two parts: a module for processing dosimetric information and a module for dose distribution calculation. The purpose of a dosimetric module is initializing of model for a specific accelerator. After that initialization the model can be used in a calculation module. Bibliogr. 13. Il. 6.
