On affine parts of algebraic theories

Abstract: We introduce and study two properties connected with interrelations of an algebraic theory and its affine part. Each one of these properties characterizes varieties of modules within some classes of varieties. In particular, we find characterizations of varieties of abelian groups in the classes of varieties of groups and loops.
