Abstract:
The article describes a model for organization of information support for solving the problem of cargo transportation by roads using geographic information systems. The paper deals with the questions of gathering and processing of different sources of information, necessary for determination of the complete set of attributes that help construct the schemes of the roads and transported cargo. The issues concerning gathering, integration, preprocessing and storage of attribute information that is required for a comprehensive description of the process of transportation and decision-making are considered. It is proposed to use the domain ontology as a source for attribute information, conventionally divided into general types of classes, typical for any kind of cargo transportation (these classes are presented with such universal notions as "cargo" and "order for transportation"), and applied ones, specific to road transport (notions "transport", "trailer", "road", "part of road", "overhead utilities" and "overhead roads"). The co-relations of the classes in the developed ontology are described. The paper also presents the concept for a program actualization of this information model in the form of geo-information service and describes the basic components of the service, as well as their interaction with each other. Particular attention is paid to the organization of interaction of ontology and the map server, which provides a unity of spatial and attribute information required for functioning geo-information technologies. The architecture peculiarities of the actualized prototype of software of geo-information mapping service, based on the software components with open source code and open mapping data, are described.
