Abstract:
Nonlinear-optical characteristics of metamaterials based on sapphire with ion-synthesized copper and silver nanoparticles were studied. The reflection $z$-scan technique operating with 55 pulses of the Nd:YAG laser at the wavelength of 1064 nm was used. The nonlinear refractive coefficients and the real parts of the third-order nonlinear susceptibilities of composite metamaterials were detected. It was demonstrated that optical Kerr effect is responsible for nonlinear reflection.
