Imitating optical distortionsin 3D scene virtual camera images

Abstract: We proposed methods for imitating optical effects in images from virtual cameras that simulate surveillance devices in a three-dimensional environment. This expands the possibilities of such simulations by enabling coverage of a wide range of real devices as references for their virtual counterparts. We developed original methods and algorithms for two-stage image synthesis that implement radial distortion and chromatic aberrations. We tested the proposed solutions in the VirSim virtual environment, developed at our institution, and demonstrated their validity and effectiveness.
