The hard-sphere model in plasma and gas physics

Abstract: Expressions are derived for the scattering cross sections and the macroscopic properties of gases and plasmas in a hard-sphere model in which the first two terms are retained in the expansion in the small parameter of the theory. These expressions are analyzed and compared with the results of the Maxwell model and also with numerical calculations for model interaction potentials.
