REVIEWS OF TOPICAL PROBLEMS

Analytic models of relativistic accretion disks

V. V. Zhuravlev

Lomonosov Moscow State University, Sternberg State Astronomical Institute

Abstract: We present not a literature review but a description, as detailed and consistent as possible, of two analytic models of disk accretion onto a rotating black hole: a standard relativistic disk and a twisted relativistic disk. Although one of these models is older than the other, both are of topical interest for black hole studies. The treatment is such that the reader with only a limited knowledge of general relativity and relativistic hydrodynamics, with little or no use of additional sources, can gain insight into many technical details lacking in the original papers.

Keywords: accretion, accretion discs, black hole physics, hydrodynamics.
