Abstract: The Bohr correspondence and complementarity principles, which express the endeavor to utilize the concepts of classical theories (mechanics, electrodynamics) to the highest degree, are invoked in this paper to describe the interaction of light photon beams with a medium whose properties can be represented using the Lorentz model of the classical harmonic oscillator and the dispersion theory.
