Abstract: It is proposed to develop a three-dimensional mathematical model of electric-arc plasma with due regard for its deviation from thermal and ionization equilibrium. The combined solution of the equations of electric-arc column and of the thermal problem in electrodes enables one to estimate the effect of the magnetic field of the electrodes on the characteristics of the arc column. The model is tested by a comparison of the calculation data with the experimental results, as well as with the results of calculation using two-dimensional models. It is shown that the proposed model enables one to obtain physically reliable results.
