Abstract:
Kinetic boundary conditions (in particular, slip conditions) are used in the theory of rarefied gases; these boundary conditions are a corollary of the Boltzmann equation and make it possible to use the Navier-Stokes equations for describing flows of moderately rarefied gases. It is demonstrated that the slip conditions may be derived as a result of solution of generalized hydrodynamic equations (GHE). In other words, the GHE may be used for an adequate description of the kinetic wall layer.
