Abstract:
For the first time, the thermal conductivity $\lambda$ and thermal diffusivity $a$ were experimentally studied for the intermetallic compound $\rm Mg_2\rm Ca$. $\lambda$ and $a$ were measured using the laser flash method in the $300$–$1230$ K temperature range in solid and liquid states, including the melting region of the intermetallic compound at $990 \pm 5$ K. The estimated uncertainties of the obtained data were $3.7$–$5.6$ and $2.6$–$5.6\%$ for $\lambda$ and $a$, respectively. The results for $\lambda$ in the present study are compared with data for other magnesium alloys.
