Equation of state for a near-critical binary mixture based on the mixing hypothesis

Abstract: The paper presents and analyzes a general (standard) scheme for an equation of state for a near-critical binary mixture with the constant average composition. It is shown that the equation of state within the standard scheme predicts the nonphysical behavior of some thermophysical characteristics. The behavior of the mixture critical isochor is analyzed in detail, in particular. To eliminate the problem, a correction of the standard scheme is required. A correction method is proposed consisting of a transition from the hypothesis of thermodynamic field mixing to thermodynamic quantity mixing. As a result, an equation of state for a near-critical binary mixture is obtained, which coincides with the equation of state for a multicomponent liquid.
