Estimations of the necessary sample size in problems of statistical classification. I

I. N. Volodin

Abstract: The classification problem of $s$ independent objects into $r$ simple populations is considered. The notion of the sample size sufficient for classifying objects with guaranteed accuracy is introduced. Lower bounds for the expected sufficient sample size are found which are generalizations of well-known bounds due to A. Wald [2] and G. Simons [7].
