Abstract: We construct a class $\mathscr B$ of distributions of integer valued random variables such that if $\mathbf P\in\mathscr B$ then $P^{\ast n}$ for every $n=1,2,\dots$ is not unimodal. This result provides a negative answer to a question raised by A. Renyi.
