Comments on polaron–phonon scattering theory

Abstract: We use the polaron state function described in terms of coupled classical and quantum fields to calculate the cross section of phonon scattering on a polaron. The value of the resonance momentum is determined by asymptotic values of several integrals. Calculating them with crystal parameters taken into account leads to bounds on the maximum value of the coupling constant. We confirm that the applicability domain of the strong-coupling approximation is near zero.

Keywords: scattering, dressed particle, translation invariance, wave function structure in terms of classical and quantum fields.
