Asymptotic behavior of Fourier transforms

Abstract: The concept of asymptotic behavior is introduced for generalized functions (distributions). An exposition is given of the mathematical formalism of a new approach to the investigation of the analytic properties of matrix elements in quantum field theory. This new approach is based on the connection between the singularities of a generalized function and the behavior at infinity of its Fourier transform.
