Construction of the collective Hamiltonian in a microscopic model of a nucleus

Abstract: On the basis of the Hamiltonian of a microscopic model of a nucleus with arbitrary residual interaction, a Hamiltonian that describes collective quadrupole excitations is constructed. An expression for the potential energy of deformation is obtained and analyzed. The energies of the lowest collective states are calculated for the case when the potential energy has two minima.
