Dirichlet series with independent exponents and some of their applications

Abstract: In this paper the methods of probability theory are used to prove a number of theorems on the behavior of Dirichlet series with independent exponents. The results so obtained are applied to the theory of the $\zeta$-function and to the behavior of the solution of the wave equation as $t\to\infty$.
