Almost free action of the one-dimensional torus

Abstract: Compact smooth complex toric varieties with an almost free action of a 1-torus are considered. It turns out that all such varieties can be classified. Moreover, they are all homeomorphic to $\mathbb P^1\times\dots\times\mathbb P^1$.
