Abstract:
Published data on the study of the chemical aspects of the reaction of C-nitroso-compounds with alkenes have been examined and critically reviewed. The multi-stage nature of the process has been emphasised. The dependence of the mechanisms of the primary stage and subsequent stages of the reaction on the structure of the reagents and the reaction conditions has been discussed. An attempt has been made to explain the contradictory data on the structure of the final reaction products in terms of the variety of possible directions for the transformation of the intermediates. The characteristics of the chemical reaction of C-nitroso-compounds with diene polymers have been examined. The bibliography contains 117 references.
