Abstract:
The use of deuterium for the study of the mechanisms of heterogeneous-catalytic organic reactions and of the adsorption of organic molecules on the surface, the structure of the active centres and properties of catalysts, as well as other aspects of catalysis is examined. The possibilities of employing data obtained by measuring the rate of deuterium exchange, by the analysis of the isotope distribution in the products, and by the determination of kinetic isotope effects are demonstrated.
