Abstract:
Data concerning the composition of the products of the ozonisation of acetals, the stoichiometry of the process, and the influence of substituents and the structure of acetals on their reactivity, the effect of the polarity of the medium, the activation parameters for the process, and the kinetic isotope effects are surveyed and analysed. At lowered temperatures the process proceeds via a heterolytic mechanism, while with increase of temperature the fraction of ozone consumed due to the formation of free radicals rises.
