Abstract: The methods of synthesis, structure, and physicochemical and chemical properties of transition metal carbonyl derivatives containing biological ligands, namely porphyrins, nucleic bases and nucleosides, aminoacids, and peptides, are examined. The possibility of using metal carbonyl complexes with biological ligands in various branches of chemistry is discussed.
