Abstract:
A comparative analysis of experimental data and theories interpreting the regular kinetic features of the dissolution of metal oxides in acids has been carried out. Theories of the conjugated transfer of the cations and anions of the oxide to the electrolyte solution do not explain the results obtained. The regular kinetic features of the dissolution of oxide phases have been interpreted for the first time on the basis of the present-day theory of semiconductors, electrochemical concepts, and models of heterogeneous kinetics. The proposed electron–proton mechanism explains all the available data on the kinetics of the dissolution of oxides in mineral acids and complexones. The bibliography contains 214 references.
