Abstract:
Theories of the structure of simple liquids, and the present state of the problem, have been examined. Attention has been paid to the unity of the static and dynamic characteristics of the structure. New results obtained by molecular-dynamic computer modelling, including the use of the ideas of statistical geometry, have been presented. The lack of justification for the quasi-crystalline approach to the structure of short-range order, and the fruitfulness of Bernal's ideas, have been pointed out.
