Abstract:
The antitumour activities of platinum complexes have been characterised in connection with their composition, structure, and properties. A relation has been established between the antiblastoma properties of platinum complexes and the charge and nature of neutral and acido-ligands, the geometrical configuration, and the degree of oxidation of the central atom. Hypotheses are put forward concerning the mechanism of the antitumour activity of platinum complexes. The prospects for the application of platinum and other platinum metal complexes in tumour chemotherapy are assessed. The bibliography includes 131 references.
