Abstract: The methods for the formation of azoxy-compounds by substitution reactions with participation of anions having nitrogen–nitrogen bonds are examined. Attention is concentrated on the alkylation reactions of alkanediazotates, nitrosohydroxylamines, and nitroamines as well as substitution reactions involving the distal nitrogen atom in azoxy-compounds. The literature up to 1976 inclusive is covered.
