Abstract:
The ageing and stabilisation of polymers involves the chemical physics of coupled radical-chain, ionic, and molecular transformations in complex multicomponent systems which make up the polymeric material. In the present review the question of the ageing and stabilisation of polymers is formulated as a multifactor problem, where the study of the changes in the properties of the material under various conditions can be treated from a single standpoint, and the mechanism is represented by a set of interrelated elementary processes. Some new results and views are considered. The bibliography includes 114 references.
