Abstract:
Compounds formed in the R2O3–TiO2 binary systems, where R is a lanthanide element, are examined. Methods for the preparation of lanthanide titanates in both polycrystalline and single-crystal form are analysed. Attention is concentrated on the crystal chemistry and the physicochemical properties of lanthanide titanates with quadrivalent titanium. A number of examples of practical applications of these compounds are given. The bibliography includes 110 references.
