Abstract:
The characteristics of the microphase structure of block copolymers and the decisive role of the incompatibility of the components of the block copolymer in this structure are examined and the factors influencing the type of structure and the size of the structural elements are discussed. A close relation is demonstrated between the segregation processes in dilute solutions and micelle formation on concentrating the solution, on the one hand, and the colloidal properties of solutions of copolymers determined by micelle formation and the structures of the solid polymers, on the other. The mechanical and physical properties of block copolymers are considered mainly in relation to thermo-elastomers. The bibliography includes 254 references.
