The Chemistry of Δ^αβ-Butenolides

Abstract: Data on the chemistry of Δ^αβ-butenolides are surveyed and described systematically and the available information in the literature about the methods of preparation of these compounds are discussed. The chemical reactions of Δ^αβ-butenolides are examined and a brief account is given of the biological activity of unsaturated γ-lactones.
