Abstract:
The influence of the chemical structure of heat-resistant aromatic polymers on their physical properties is discussed mainly in relation to mechanical properties. Methods for determining the heat resistance of polymers and their mechanical performance are described, and the calculation of the principal physical characteristics from the chemical structure of the repeating unit is explained. A detailed account is given of the effect of chemical structure on the glass point of heat-resistant aromatic polymers and on relaxation transitions within the temperature range of the vitreous state. A list of 131 references is included.
