Abstract:
The development of the principle of conformational analysis is associated mainly with the employment of cyclohexane and its heteroanalogues as model compounds. The present review surveys data on the conformational analysis of another system containing six-membered rings – bicyclo[3,3,1]nonane. A set of conformational problems, which have been successfully solved using the above bicyclic system, are discussed, the fundamental principles are formulated, and the great scope of the applications of this model in conformational research is demonstrated. The bibliography includes 213 references.
