Abstract:
The review gives a general and systematic account of experimental and calculated data on the vibration spectra and structures of the simplest aromatic derivatives of non-transition Group I–VI elements. Particular attention has been devoted to "M-sensitive" vibrations, i.e. vibrations involving the element M, the frequencies of the corresponding bands, their activites, and the splittings of the components as a function of molecular structure. The monosubstituted benzene approximation is shown to have poor suitability for the interpretation of the spectra of derivatives of polyvalent elements. The bibliography includes 145 references.
