Abstract:
The present review considers experimental data and the results of theoretical studies of the dehydration of crystal hydrates. The data have been systematised according to the stages of the reaction in the light of modern theories of the kinetics and mechanism of chemical reactions in solids. Attention has been drawn to a number of unsolved problems. It has been shown that the dehydration of crystal hydrates may prove a convenient model system in topochemistry for the solution of these problems. The bibliography contains 102 references.
