Abstract:
The review analyses two classes of methods for the resolution of racemic alcohols into optical isomers: resolution by the synthesis and separation of diastereoisomeric derivatives and resolution without the formation or isolation of diastereoisomers. The fundamental classical studies on the resolution of racemic alcohols are noted. Attention has been concentrated on modern trends and modifications based on the latest advances in organic chemistry. It has been shown that the application of physicochemical methods leads to fundamentally new possibilities for the resolution of racemic alcohols. The bibliography includes 128 references.
