Abstract:
The considerable new synthetic possibilities, which have arisen as a result of studies on electrophilic substitution reactions in the cyclopentadienide series, are considered in the review. The possible mechanism of these processes is analogous to the mechanism of substitution in the benzene series. Much attention has been devoted to the problem of the direction of electrophilic attack in cyclopentadienide ions containing both electron-donating and electron-accepting substituents. The bibliography includes 63 references.
