Abstract:
The review gives a general account of the methods of synthesis and chemical properties of O-alkyl derivatives of lactams: lactim ethers, lactam acetals, and others. The reactions of O-alkyl derivatives of lactams with various nucleophilic and electrophilic reagents are described. Particular attention has been devoted to the possibility of using O-alkyl-lactams for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds which are of both chemical and biological interest. The bibliography includes 135 references.
